New College of DuPage board rescinds academic Bill of Rights

The makeup of the College of DuPage board has changed, but controversy has remained.

On a night when four new members were sworn in, the seven-person board Monday rescinded an academic Bill of Rights that the outgoing board had approved at its last regular meeting in April.

The 10-item Bill of Rights includes a code of ethics and policies on such matters as educational philosophy, harassment and discrimination. Among other things, it would have required teachers to stick to course materials....
