Study: Parents saving more for college

Even with the economy in a funk a new study finds 52 percent of parents are saving the same amount or more for college. The national study of parents from Sallie Mae and Gallup on “How America Saves for College” finds 92 percent of parents overwhelmingly expect their children to pursue higher education and 48 percent plan to pay for most or all of the cost. The telephone survey conducted in March-April among 1,200 parents of children under age 18 was released Friday on “529 College Savings Day.”
