Michigan collects $1B to boost education

Michigan can collect more than $1 billion in federal funding to help save teachers’ jobs and turn around schools, U.S. Education Secretary Arne Duncan announced today. The money is part of the $787-billion stimulus bill passed by Congress this year.
Michigan will be eligible for another $525 million through this stream of funding this fall.
