Education report suggests rates for student graduations drop

The number of students graduating on time declined slightly in Michigan and nationwide for the Class of 2006, but a more significant drop occurred in Detroit Public Schools, according to a national research report expected to be released today.

In Detroit, the graduation rate for the 2006 class was 26.8%, down from 37.5%. That is the worst graduation rate for the 50 largest school districts in the nation. The 2006 data is the latest information available.
