Florida International University board to vote on tuition hike

Florida International University's board of trustees Friday will vote on a proposed 15 percent tuition increase for the upcoming year, an increase that would cost a full-time student roughly $400 more per year.

The state Legislature has already approved an 8 percent tuition hike, so the question in front of the board is whether to tack on an additional 7 percent -- 15 percent is the maximum increase allowed under state law.
