Rendell continues fight for education funding

Gov. Ed Rendell said Friday, lawmakers are playing a “political shell game” with education funding and urged legislators not to abandon a six-year education funding formula he fought for last year.

The state faces a projected $3.2 billion shortfall for the current budget. In light of the deficit, the Republican-controlled Senate passed Senate Bill 850 along party lines, a $27.3 billion balanced budget with drastic cuts to programs and services.
