Two administrators at a University of Massachusetts program that allows nontraditional students to design their own degrees are retiring after more than 40 combined years of service.
Gary Bernhard, the former director of the University Without Walls program, and associate director Victoria Dowling will be recognized Saturday on the Amherst campus.
University Without Walls allows students to use prior coursework and real-life experience to fulfill requirements for a bachelor's degree.
