Using high-pressure sales tactics to encourage students not to skip classes or drop out, as Harold O. Levy proposes, will be useless unless parents become more engaged with their children and the curriculum becomes relevant to the 21st century. The schools, and also social services, need to become involved in exactly why students are not attending.
