When a trade student graduated high school 50 years ago, it was often the last diploma he earned before starting a career.

The experience of Al Sanseverino, a member of J.M Wright Technical High School's class of 1953, was typical. Upon graduation, Sanseverino "rolled up his sleeves" and went to work as an apprentice electrician. Today, without having attended college, he runs his own business in Stamford and a satellite office in Bridgeport. He has a nice house and 60 employees. Sanseverino....
