State Moves to End Some Student Financial Aid

The state took the first step Tuesday toward eliminating the merit scholarships of nearly 100,000 students.

A Senate appropriations subcommittee, in a partisan vote, passed a budget bill that would eliminate the $140 million Michigan Promise Scholarship and slash funding for need-based financial aid.
