Claiming it would inject politics into the process, Buffalo’s Board of Education voted Friday to oppose state bills that would move May’s School Board contests to the same day as the November general election.
Party bosses shouldn’t influence the makeup of the school board, some argued.
Others claimed that May elections produce anemic turnouts and allow the teachers union to wield excessive power.
