The city of Tallahassee is anticipating the need to eliminate 112 jobs — 80 of which are filled with real people — in order to make up a $7.5 million budget shortfall this coming year.
This is brutal news and, as City Manager Anita Favors Thompson described it, the most dire circumstances in her 19 years with the city.
It's going to be especially brutal for those, potentially, 80 employees who won't find a robust job market to embrace them. Many will likely move into the ranks of some 6.69 million....
