Education improves after report

Officers re-visited the county in March and concluded that "overall" progress was good, but there were still some weaknesses.

The council was severely criticised by Estyn in 2007 in a report which led to the ousting of a former council leader.

Council leader Hugh Evans said it was a "good day" for the county.

He added: "The inspectors have acknowledged the tremendous amount of work that has gone on to address issues included in the previous report."
