University of Miami teaches 'nerds' to create their own video games

It's summer, and while many students are spending their days playing video games, the campers at iD Tech Camp are creating their own.

Frank Carpio, 16, from Kendall made a single shooter game, much like Halo, where the players have a mission and can play on teams to achieve it.


''The characters have a starting point, and you can change weapons,'' said Frank, who has been attending the camp every summer for four years. ``I've learned programming, 3D digital design and modding.''
