BOARD OF EDUCATION TO CONVENE TODAY

The newly formed Board of Education will convene today after the law that gives Mayor Bloomberg control of city schools expired at 12:01 a.m.

The five borough presidents met this morning during an emergency session with city officials at Gracie Mansion on the Upper East Side to reconstitute the long-defunct board.

Bloomberg named his deputies Patty Harris and Ed Skyler to the board, officials said.
