Boys' education needs to be priority

Boys' education in schools is not a high enough priority in New Zealand, according to new research.

Auckland-based teachers Alison Derbyshire and Nicola Agnew 's research has revealed a significant gender gap in students' achievement, especially in literacy-based subjects such as English.

Latest statistics from the 2008 NCEA results supported their claim, with girls outperforming boys at every senior level.
