Public schools consider implications of special-education ruling

A Supreme Court ruling issued last month could open the door for more parents of special-education students to enroll their children in private programs and seek reimbursement from the public school districts in which they live.

“It’s not a slam dunk for either side, but it’s probably going to drive up costs for special education, litigation or both,” said Ron Sofo, superintendent of Freedom Area School District.
