OPINION: Career track leads to dead end

The goal of elementary and secondary school systems is to prepare students for life after graduation. Whether students choose to continue their education in college or move directly into the work force after high school, the curriculum should serve as a springboard in either direction.

Evidently, most state lawmakers don’t feel Louisiana’s public school curriculum offers either choice based on their vote last month to create a “career track” diploma.
