Wisconsin's gap in education achievement among the worst

A U.S. Education Department study released Tuesday found the gap between white and black students in Wisconsin to be one of the worst in the U.S.

The report, comparing the performance of white students with that of black and other minority students, found that black Wisconsin students in fourth and eighth grades had the lowest reading scores in the nation and math scores among the worst.

White students in Wisconsin in those grades scored near the national average.
