Indiana University, Ivy Tech OK tuition increases

Indiana University and Ivy Tech Community College raised tuition Thursday, drawing ire from two lawmakers who say the state's public colleges should keep the same rates considering the recession.

"I'm offended on behalf of middle-class families," said Republican Rep. Jeff Espich of Uniondale, a member of the State Budget Committee that helps oversee state spending. "I truly think more than any entity in state government, (the colleges) have failed to tighten their belts to reality."
