State education board to vote on graduation exam

The state Board of Education on Thursday is expected to approve high school graduation exams, despite criticism from education organizations.

This morning, the board's Council of Basic Education approved the tests, 7-1. The full board is scheduled to vote tomorrow.

Under the proposal, school districts could opt to use the so-called "Keystone Exams" beginning with the class of 2015. Ten tests will be made available to districts, starting with English literature, basic algebra and biology during....
