SEX EDUCATION: Ignorance even among older teens

THE call from Samuel Yesuiah for sex education to be taught as a subject in our schools should be heeded by our education planners ("A need for sex education" -- NST, Aug 11).

As an educator who has been teaching human development at the Multimedia University since 1999, I feel that Yesuiah has effectively highlighted a social reality many of us refuse to acknowledge -- that there is often a surprising lack of knowledge on sexual matters, even among tertiary students.
