Obama lays out federal education aid criteria

President Barack Obama laid out the criteria Wednesday for states to access the $4.35 billion in Race to the Top grants – closely watched in Massachusetts as the Legislature considers Gov. Deval Patrick’s education reforms, and Democratic senators receive a briefing Thursday on committee progress.

Obama issued four measures he said were essential for states looking to tap into the fund, from which Massachusetts could receive over $100 million, according to Education Commissioner Mitchell Chester.....
