More funds for university hopeful in UK

A higher education institution pushing for university status has seen its funding increase by 4.1% to more than £23m.

UHI - the prospective University of the Highlands and Islands - has been given the award by the Scottish Further and Higher Education Funding Council (SFC).

The council has announced a total investment of £1.14bn in universities.

The performance-related awards have seen funding to some universities reduced compared to 2008-09 levels.
