University System of Georgia generated $12B

Georgia's 35 public universities increased their economic impact to $12.1 billion in fiscal 2008, the Selig Center for Economic Growth in The University of Georgia’s Terry College of Business reported Wednesday.

This marks a $1.1 billion increase over the $11 billion impact generated in fiscal 2007. When the annual study began in fiscal 1999, the university system’s impact was estimated at $7.7 billion.
