Championship Ratings Are Lower

North Carolina’s 89-72 victory over Michigan State to win the N.C.A.A. men’s basketball championship Monday night on CBS generated a 10.8 rating, 11 percent below last year’s, and the lowest rating for the event recorded by Nielsen Media. The game’s average viewership of 17.6 million fell 10 percent from last year, and was the third lowest ever. The full tournament produced a 5.7 rating, up from 5.6 last year.
