In "N.C.A.A. Reforms: Barely Eligible" (Op-Ed, Jan. 5), Murray Sperber mentions a proposal that would institute a minimum grade point average for athletic eligibility among his concerns for intercollegiate sports. But not to worry too much. A Department of Education researcher, Clifford Adelman, has reported that 16 years after graduation from high school, college varsity football and basketball players were doing better economically, by every measure, than their nonjock classmates.
