College baseball - Olivet ends conference skid

Acting as the designated hitter in the opening game of Saturday's doubleheader with Trinity Christian College, Elijah Smurthwaite came up with the big hit.

As the starting pitcher in the nightcap at Watson Field, Smurthwaite watched his teammates hit big.

The result was good in both games for the Tigers, who swept the Trolls 3-2 and 14-1 in five innings to even their Chicagoland Collegiate Athletic Conference record at 7-7.
