Final Texas Senate vote is today on top 10 percent rule for college admissions

AUSTIN – The Texas Senate is expected to give final approval today to a measure that would curb the "top 10 percent rule" for automatic admission to state universities.

The proposal, tentatively passed by the Senate on a 23-8 vote Tuesday, goes next to the House, where it failed two years ago. Key lawmakers, however, have said the legislation has a better chance of clearing the House this time around.
