Teacher crashes put focus on driver ed work

Students in at least five Iowa cities will take driver education classes this summer with teachers who have been convicted for causing traffic accidents in the past two years.

Leaders of school-run and private driver education programs in Clive, Harlan, Mount Pleasant, Newton and Walnut say a teacher shortage and what they describe as minor crashes drove their decisions to keep convicted teachers in the classroom.
