California’s Education Skills Gap: Modest Improvements Could Yield Big Gains

California faces a shortage of nearly 1 million college graduates in the year 2025, a report by the Public Policy Institute of California (PPIC) concludes. But this education skills gap—between the number of graduates the economy needs and the number California can produce—could be cut in half if the state makes modest improvements in college attendance, community college transfers, and college graduation rates.
