Guest commentary: Why 15 percent?

We decided to construct our letter to the editor in a question and answer format to provide information in an efficient and reader-friendly manner.

The following are some of the questions we have received over the last few weeks.

Question: Why have you raised the property tax?

Answer: We have been granted 4 percent allowable growth by the legislature and may only be funded at 2 percent. The levy will help make up this difference as well as build our cash reserves back up to an acceptable....
