College of DuPage Board Adopts Controversy Policies that May Limit Academic Freedom

Two major decisions Thursday of a lame duck College of DuPage Board raised the ire of faculty and residents who attended the session.

The board voted to give COD President Robert Breuder a three-year contract extension through June 20, 2015. The trustees also approved 10 controversial policy changes, which had been withheld at the March 19 board meeting, so that the college's lawyers could review them.

Some of the policies include a code of ethics, assembly on college facilities, outside speakers....
