  • Welcome to Student Employment! Welcome to the Albion College Student Employment Page! The Student Employment Office (SEO) maintains lists of employment opportunities in most on-campus departments, as well as positions off-campus within the community of Albion. Positions exist for students with no financial aid eligibility, as well as recipients of Federal Work Study awards. Students are encouraged to participate in the employment program and to seek assistance from the SEO for information and guidance as to the availability and location of job opportunities. College Costs: Earnings from student employment may be used to help pay any remaining tuition balance or other costs associated with life at Albion College. Financial Security: Along with a paycheck comes a sense of financial security and independence. Students may not have to rely as heavily on other family resources when handling expenses such as books, supplies, travel, or personal items. Time Management: Research shows that many students perform better academically when combining employment with other college experiences. These students feel that they are better able to budget their time to ensure it is balanced between study, work, and leisure. Developing an organized schedule makes every hour count. Skills Enhancement/Work Experience: Students are exposed to the professional work environment where they gain valuable work skills and experience while learning about various career opportunities. Many students are better prepared for the job market after graduation. References and Contacts: Students are more involved in the college community, where they may develop stronger bonds with college employees and other students. Excellent references may be obtained and these, along with skills and experience, are great resume builders. Loan Alternative: Student Employment provides an alternative to loan indebtedness. Considering the long-term obligations of a loan, students may decide to decrease the amount of their loan award by increasing their work award. Students may save money in the long run because they will have less money to pay back in loans. Mission Statement: The Student Employment Office, a division of the Financial Aid Office, is committed to assisting the campus community and its students in the employment process. We strive to serve the college courteously, efficiently, and in all areas of student employment. If you have any question or need more information, please contact the Financial Aid Office or call 517/629-0440 for more information.
