My Statement

I am Dr.Pooya Zargaran and I am writing to bring to your kind attention, my interests for possible post doc research opportunities at your university.

I completed my PhD in Architecture at the Faculty of Architecture of the University of Bologna in Italy in June 2014 with the PhD dissertation in History of Restoration in Iran: Origins and Developments from 1900 to 1978. I also have a M-Arch degree in architecture from the Polytechnic University of Turin in Italy obtained in 2009 and a M-Arch in Architectural engineering from the Faculty of Art and Architecture of Tehran(Iran) obtained in 2005.

My academic activities are accompanied by my 2-years faculty position as a teaching assistant and as the lecturer for under-graduate courses in architecture from 2006 to 2008 and my academic publications in national/international conferences and magazines.

My PhD dissertation tended to study the origins and developments of the restoration in Iran from its very first moments till the Islamic revolution of 1978. As very little efforts have been done regarding the study of the origins of the formation of restoration in Iran, my thesis could be considered the first one of its type as stated by the PhD committee members during the dissertation session. Through a flexible structure in interdisciplinary research fields like architecture, restoration and archaeology, my thesis defined the influencing and characterizing factors in the formation and development of restoration in Iran with solid case studies. My dissertation was granted for its originality in subject, the research criteria and for its further contributions in scholar studies.
I believe that my skills and academic experience prepare me to be an effective researcher in your research department. In addition to my dissertation research, other areas that interest me for my future research stem from scholar studies in Iranian architecture, archaeology, architectural conservation and relative interdisciplinary fields. Due to your immense academic experiences and the fact that I am in my early steps of academic career, I am very open to any advise which can help me to better my academic activity.
I will gladly provide any other supporting materials upon request.

Thank you for your consideration, and I look forward to hearing from you soon.

Sincerely,

Doc. Pooya Zargaran
