    WORKING TITLE: Business Analyst

    UW SYSTEM OFFICIAL TITLE: Info Process Consultant

    This position reports to the Business Analyst lead and supports the development, implementation, enhancement and maintenance of Information Technology systems and software for the university. This position provides technical solutions, recommendations and guidance to enhance and automate business processes using functional knowledge of business practices, technical expertise, business workflow software, and research and business analysis skills.

    This position includes the following responsibilities:

    Serve as a system administrator for Information Technology systems and software used at the university. These include but are not limited to business workflow software (e.g. BP Logix), Transact ID and commerce system, security camera software, Persona Door Access application, PeopleSoft Student Information System, Salesforce CRM, and Perceptive Content document imaging software.
    Verify that applications are functioning properly, lead problem resolution and communicate system status to impacted users.
    Evaluate existing business practices, workflows and requirements, and recommend enhancements to improve functionality and efficiency of business processes.
    Work with the functional users to document their current business processes to determine which processes could be automated with a business workflow software application to simplify the flow of tasks/activities and reduce manual intervention.
    Assist with new user account creation, configurations, testing and customizations of systems to conform to university and UW System policies.
    Monitor data quality, data security and associated user procedures.
    Investigate new software functionality within existing information systems; identify and recommend process improvement solutions that use the functionality to improve productivity, customer service, and/or business process efficiency.
    Evaluate existing technology and propose system development and/or the purchase of new software applications or technology.
    Serve as a project manager for select Information Technology systems and software implementations and upgrades.
    Assess impact of software changes (patches, fixes and upgrades) on existing business processes and coordinate testing and implementation of relevant changes.
    Communicate the priorities, resource requirements, timelines, recommended solutions and project plans, and the impact these projects have on other areas to area leaders.
    Coordinate business process automation efforts in consultation with the university database administrator, technical staff, and functional user groups.
    Coordinate and lead meetings with user groups, committees, vendors, and project teams as needed, and coordinate follow up tasks and communication.
    Develop short and long-term business automation strategies and plans consistent with university and department objectives, practices and goals.
    Implement projects to improve user service and operating efficiencies through system-related developments and new technologies.
    Provide input and assistance with documentation before, during and after the completion of new projects as new systems and/or procedures are developed.
    Identify training needs related to new or enhanced applications.
    Serves as a contact with selected third party software vendors.
    Assist with reporting and query support using UWBI/OBIEE or other tools.
    Collaborate with other educational institutions within and outside of the UW System to provide technical/functional solutions to common problems.
    Participate in ongoing professional development and training to stay informed of changes in software functionality and industry trends.

    Bachelor's degree in related field, and/or combination of education and technical experience
    Demonstrated analytical skills, including the ability to formulate and implement practical solutions to complex problems
    Project management skills including experience with project planning and timeliness
    Experience working in a customer-service oriented environment
    Ability to work with a diverse university community

    Information technology experience including researching, developing, implementing, maintaining and integrating software applications
    Experience with a business process workflow application (e.g. BP Logix)
    Experience with a CRM system (e.g. Salesforce)
    Experience with the implementation and support of a major software application
    Experience with relational databases and reporting tools (e.g. PeopleSoft query, OBIEE, Hyperion, SQL, Crystal Reports, XML Publisher)
    Demonstrated flexibility and adaptability to work in a dynamic and evolving environment
    Knowledge of/experience with higher education
