  • JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS: The Information Technology Technician 2 provides telephone, remote, and in-person technical support through the UTGSM’s help desk operation. This position provides technical support to UTGSM’s clinical teaching faculty, resident physicians, clinic medical staff, support office staff, and medical students. This position is also primarily responsible for performing installation and upgrades to computers and peripherals for the UTGSM.



    DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:

    Provides technical support to UTGSM’s clinical and educational enterprise comprised of faculty, resident physicians, medical staff, support staff, administrators, department directors, medical students, volunteer faculty physicians, and outside learners.
    Reviews, prioritizes, and solves work orders within specified time frames.
    Resolves technical issues involving operating systems, services and applications including Microsoft Windows, MacOS, iOS, Microsoft Office 365, Medical Practice Management Systems, BitLocker Data Encryption, and remote access.
    Perform routine installation/replacement of end-user computers and peripheral devices and necessary software.
    Supports and troubleshoots technical equipment including computers, thin clients, printers, scanners, and various other peripheral devices.
    Upholds and adheres to federally mandated privacy laws (HIPAA) regarding the handling and confidentiality of patient health information.
    Creates, edits, and maintains time-sensitive technical support materials and solution documentation for all users and fellow team members.
    Provides technical training to the UTGSM resident physicians as scheduled by the Office of Graduate Medical Education.
    Performs other related duties as assigned.


    MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS:

    EDUCATION: High School Diploma or GED. (Bachelor’s Degree preferred.) (TRANSCRIPT REQUIRED)

    EXPERIENCE: Two (2) years of relevant experience; OR a combination of education and experience to equal two (2) years. Must have a valid Driver’s License. (CompTIA A+ and ITIL v4 Foundation certification preferred.)

    KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    Extensive applied knowledge and direct experience with Microsoft Windows 10/11, Microsoft Office 365, TCP/IP, and BitLocker encryption.
    Fundamental knowledge of MacOS and iOS.
    Fundamental knowledge of network architecture, server functionality, and mail clients.
    Intermediate computer troubleshooting skills necessary.
    Advanced knowledge of HIPAA required.
    WORK SCHEDULE: This position may occasionally be required to work weekends and evenings.
