Burn ban dims hopes of an A&M bonfire

The hopes of the Texas A&M University faithful for their traditional but unofficial bonfire were doused again when the county's burn ban was extended Wednesday due to a lack of rain.

The bonfire — held off campus since a tragic 1999 collapse that killed 12 students — is held to gin up enthusiasm for the Thanksgiving Day classic football matchup between the "Ags" and arch-rival Longhorns of the University of Texas.
