Lane Rawlins named University of North Texas' 15th president

University of North Texas regents officially appointed the school's 15th president Monday.

In a teleconference, the regents unanimously agreed to extend a two-year contract to Lane Rawlins. Regents named him the lone finalist Nov. 12.

"All I can say is congratulations, Dr. Rawlins," the regents' chairman, C. Dan Smith, said after Monday's vote. "We're pleased to have you with us. We're looking forward to the next two years."

Details of Rawlins' contract were not available Monday.
