UNLV chief says budget cuts will hurt education

University of Nevada, Las Vegas President Neal Smatresk said $32.6 million in cuts proposed under Gov. Brian Sandoval's budget would greatly diminish the university's ability to educate students.

Smatresk said he would eliminate 12 departments, 120 faculty positions and at least 33 degree programs, according to a letter he sent to students and staff on Tuesday.
