Schools take ‘pink slime’ off the menu

Where’s the beef? No longer in the lunch lines of the Nantucket Public Schools.

Thanks to “pink slime,” a term that has gained national attention over the past few months and become synonymous with questionable meat quality at major supermarkets, all beef has been removed from school lunch menus until the Food Services Department can find another vendor that will supply products without the ammonia-based filler commonly used in ground beef.
