  • Welcome to the Student Support Services @ TRIO Programs! The Student Support Services Program at the University of North Dakota is a program within the Division of Student and Outreach Services, funded by the United States Department of Education. This program is designed to provide support services to economically disadvantages, first-generation students and or students with disabilities. Services Available Academic Assistance-Provide academic assistance to program participants in areas such as individual and small group tutoring, review classes in math, science, and English/writing, course selection and registration, career decision making, and in conjunction with University Learning Center, assistance with study skill, reading skills, tutoring and educational assessment. Financial Assistance-Assist students in securing the most appropriate financial resources available through individual counseling, programs resources, referral, and liaison with the University's Student Financial Aid Office and community financial support agencies.. Personal Assistance-Provide motivation and personal support to program participants through individual and group counseling as well as referral to the Counseling Center and appropriate agencies.. Cultural and Social Assistance-Provide a variety of cultural/social awareness and enrichment activities by working directly with Era Bell Thompson Cultural Center and Native American Programs, as well as other cultural programs and special interest groups from the campus and community. Student Eligibility Eligibility for the program is determined by federal regulations and academic need established by the student and advisor. A student qualifies under one of the following categories: 1. First-Generation. 2. Economically Disadvantages. 3. Students with Disabilities. A first-generation college student means that neither of the student's parents have received a bachelor's degree. Economically disadvantaged students must meet income requirements determined by federal guidelines. Students with disabilities are referred to and served through the Disability Support Services Program. Students Served More than three hundred students attending the University of North Dakota on a full or part-time basis participate in the program.
